Copywriting To Promote
Your Business
If you don't want to spend tens of thousands for advertising
in the papers and on radio and TV, or can't afford to, you
need to let people know about your company by other
means - mostly on the Internet these days.
You need to have a website or Blog,
of course. In order to attract people to your site and your
business, you have to be proactive and promote it : you
need to convince your market that you have something
interesting to offer, that you are an expert in your
line of business, that your products are excellent
and that you offer your services with integrity.
That's no small feat. But believe
me, at the end of the day no business will work properly
without that. You have to develop trust with
your market, and you have to do it consistently.
Almost all of this involves writing - good convincing
text, on websites, Blogs, in articles, brochures, sales
letters, speeches, newsletters, press releases and a host
of other things.
If you don't have the time to do that, or are no
good at communication in writing, you need a copywriter
to help you do it.

Professional Translations English ~ German
~ English
Would you be able to read a website in Japanese?
Or a brochure in Spanish?
I wouldn't. I've been doing business in France
and Indonesia - in both countries, I missed a lot
in terms of grasping what my colleagues wanted me to understand.
I would have done a better job knowing exactly what
they had in mind, and being able to explain my suggestions
better.
Translations enable companies to trade with each
other, to win new clients in markets that otherwise
wouldn't be accessible for them, and expand. Translations
build bridges in the global village that our world is
today.
If you don't speak their language well, you need a translation.
If they don't speak your language well, they need a
translation. Give it to them!
But it has to be a good one. Good translations
are understood as if they were original. That often
involves using local idioms and phraseology which
is normally acquired only by native speakers.
Bad translations do more harm than good!
Most people I meet think that I am a native speaker
in both English and German because I was born
in Germany, but have lived in England and South Africa for
24 years. Even in the remaining years I spoke
English much of the time because I worked in international
shipping and was always surrounded by foreigners.
Good text opens doors. Your written messge will
either encourage or discourage a sale, it conveys
your ideas, ambitions and experiences and and at the end
of the day it determines whether you are taken seriously
as a professional.

Self-Publish Your Book
in Print
You ... yes, you - I am sure you have some very
special knowledge or interest. In all probability,
you are using it in your profession or you have acquired
and developed it there.
For every special field of knowledge there are courses,
educational books and technical literature - all
that has been written by specialists and some of it was
published by publishing houses that also specialise in certain
areas.
Even if your particular knowledge has nothing to do with
your work, if it is more about your hobby or another
passion : most established publishing houses
will either not accept your work or you'll pay handsomely
for it if they do!
Authors of books have taken the trouble to write
about their subject and spread their knowledge, or entertain
an audience - and they are held in high esteem for it. Authors
have authority and earn more in their jobs, some
even become famous.
Most successful authors, however, have not enjoyed the
benefits of a well-known publishing house in the beginning,
but largely looked after printing and marketing their work
themselves.
There are many advantages to that - for starters,
you as the author get to keep all the income from your book,
not only the usual 5 - 7%. Beyond that, you retain
all the consequential rights to your book, like for
audio-books and filming - new authors especially tend to
forget about that.
But you can publish your book yourself, like many others
do!
That's not as difficult as you might think - and
I'll help you with it, in case you cannot or don't
want to do every single step on the way to your own
book in print yourself.

Marketing By WeBlog -
The Voice Of Your Company
One of the most effective tools to promote your business
is a Professional WeBlog published regularly by
RSS-Feed or eMail, offered to everyone who has ever shown
an interest in your products or services.
What used to be a newsletter or eNewsletter is the Blog
today - technological development and consumer behaviour
have changed a lot over the last few years !
All I've said about copywriting above applies here, too
- but it goes a lot further than that when it comes to an
professional blog.
A well written article, news item or story will
do its work only when it gets opened and read. That's not
as easy as it sounds at first because we are talking about
reaching thousands of subscribers within a few minutes.
Yes, that's very powerful - but you need clever software,
persistence and effective text to reach and create an interest
with your targeted audience efficiently.
Offering a free subscription to your blog has another
great benefit : you can capture the contact details
of your visitors and communicate with them beyond their
visits to your website !
Whether you already have a website or Blog
for your business or not, I have the resources to help you
publish a successful WeBlog - and gladly make
them available for you.

Graphics for your image
- make an impression
Good text is important to convey information effectively
- but is has to be read first to be able to do that.
This may be obvious but it is not as easy as it sounds to
get a potential reader there, considering the vast amount
of information on offer these days.
The attractive design of your publications addresses
the subconscious mind of the reader and if he likes what
he sees at first glance, he will stay and read on.
You only have one single chance to make a good
first impression with your company - and it is gone
in a flash. On the Internet especially, a generally
interested person will move on very quickly if there is
something that he doesn't like right away.
The expert graphical display of your brochures,
correspondence, website and your company logo in
particular therefore is very important and makes a crucial
contribution to successfully marketing your business.
Depending on your market segment, the products on offer
and your location, you can determine whether you want to
make an impression that is either elegant, more traditional
or simply functional - and build up an image that
you want to be seen with.

Which companies benefit
most from professional text,
good translations, WeBlogs and impressive graphics?
In a nutshell : any business that consistently publishes
information, advice, articles and news of value with integrity
is recognised as an important player in its industry.
The more providers play in any given market, however, the
more important it becomes to differentiate from the others
to get noticed.
Let me give you an
example :
Tourism is a huge industry. Hotels,
guesthouses, Bed & Breakfasts, holiday cottages, wellness-
and conference centres, restaurants, travel agents, tour
operators, airlines ... and many more are part of it. The
more popular the travel destination, the more service providers
you will find.
How do we decide what and where we'll buy in a situation
of information overflow? We look for places that stick
out of the crowd because they are well presented
and give the impression of being well run, offering
value for money.
I have lived and worked in Cape Town for 10 years
- a place where almost every visitor to South Africa
spends time and money. We offered our cottage with a fantastic
seaview to tourists there - and were almost always fully
booked for the season, in spite of many other, often
cheaper offerings in the area.
Why? Because we had a very nice website and
a little eNewsletter, keeping in touch with anyone
who had either stayed with us before, or enquired about
our holiday cottage.
72% of nights sold
were repeat business !
